Who Am I?

I am nobody, in the grand scheme of things.  But I am a pretty big deal in this family!  That’s right, if you need your shoes tied, I’m your girl.  Your hair put in a ponytail?  I got ya covered.  Your dinner burned but the pizza place on speed-dial.  Yep, me again!  So see, I am pretty important stuff!

At one point in my past, I was a science teacher for middle school and high school terrors…I mean kids.  It was fun, but I quickly found out that it wasn’t my calling.  I was too much of an introvert and it physically wore me out being around all those kids all the time.  So while I think I did an ok job as a teacher, it was time to move on.  I then worked as a data analyst for an insurance company and next, a school district.  This was way more me.  But then I got pregnant, and life marches on.

For the past 11 years, I’ve balanced the roles of Mother, rule enforcer, meal planner, grocery getter, chef, house cleaner, schedule organizer, calendar keeper, chauffeur, baker, sandwich maker, travel planner, and butt wiper.  I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been busy!  But I wouldn’t change it for the world.  Well, I might trade the butt wiping if I could.

Who Am I Not?

A good writer, obviously.  In school, English was always my worst subject (still made A’s and B’s, but hated it).  So I thought “Hey, why don’t I start a blog where I have to write all the f-ing time!?!”  Genius!  I’m really more of a math and science kind of girl.  Give me a frog to dissect, and I am at home.  Ask me to create a spreadsheet, and I’m good.

What else am I not?  A fashionista.  A perfect mom.   A cat.

My Likes?

Tacos.  Duh.  Pizza.  Cheese.  Really anything cheese.  And Chocolate.  I am human after all.  Stretchy clothing, hot chocolate chip cookies and fresh sugar cookies (hence the need for the stretch clothing), my warm comfy bed, clean teeth, dancing, a good girly song that I can sing along with.  Laughing.  That is one of my favorite things to do.  I tend to be way too serious, but my hubby always manages to crack me up and make me smile.  Oh yeah, my husband!  I really, really like him!  And my kids, can’t forget those guys.

I like to travel.  Which is kind of funny, considering I am also a homebody (how does that work?).  I think my wanderlust started in college when I first learned that there were other countries out there besides Texas (of course, when you live in TX, Mexico doesn’t count).  I didn’t have a passport until I was 20 and then I didn’t even use it for the first time until I was 23!  What kind of craziness is that?

My Dislikes?

People, hands down.  Wait, what?!?  I love people.  I just dislike the dislikable people in the world like bad drivers, liars, cheaters, time-wasters, manipulators, and selfish assholes.  You can relate, right?

What else?  Licorice.  So gross!  Bad Mexican food.  We live in Texas, there’s no excuse for bad Tex-Mex.  High heels.  I wear them sometimes when I need to get out of my stretchy clothes and put on something nice.  And I like the way they look, but seriously, why did this become a thing?  So stupid.  I also dislike waking up every single morning!  That sounds bad.  I mean, I am super grateful that I do continue to wake up every morning, but I am just not a morning person.  So when my alarm goes off, I sort of hate the world for about 10-15 minutes till the coffee kicks in.  I also really dislike lacking sleep.  There have been times where I haven’t gotten all of my beauty rest for one reason or another, and it is not pretty.  Literally and figuratively.

Wrap This Up Already!

For someone who dislikes writing, I sure have gone on and on about myself here.

Really, I like to think I am just like most of you guys.  Although, I didn’t say before that I am actually the luckiest woman, mom, and wife in the world!  I have so many great people in my lifem like my husband, kids, parents, in-laws, siblings, friends, etc.  I’ve been so incredibly fortunate in so many ways!

That’s all I can think of to tell you about me…
